It felt good to be in the Adirondacks today after a long layoff. However, the good feeling lasted about 30 seconds after getting out of my truck an hour before daybreak, and the mood stayed the entire day. Someone decided to blaze a trail through the woods. I've never been able to figure out why people feel the need to do that. When I was young, I was taught to use my surroundings to navigate. It helped me become a good woodsman along the way, and it kept my presence unknown. I guess people are into showing everyone in the forest where they're going, and when they blaze trails through the woods, it tends to attract  a lot of people.

I was tired when the sun came up. It began spitting snow, and the wind had a bite to it. I had a hard time staying comfortable, as it felt like the wind was finding a way to get through every piece of clothing on my body. It also felt good to have a camp full of my friends and family. My dad was able to hunt with us today, and a few friends joined us.

At the end of the day, we had a buck on the ground, and we all celebrated together. There's nothing better than cheering your friends on, especially when they succeed. Unfortunately, people who don't hunt much sometimes tend to be a little lackluster with the picture taking process. We were able to get a few pictures, so I guess we will have to cherish the memory of the hunt with a picture of a deer. Besides the deer that was killed, not much was seen today by us.  I saw a doe shortly after daybreak, but nothing followed her. Maybe I'll catch up to something in the coming days.
