Well, the forecast called for 3-6 inches yet again. Yet again, we got zero inches of snow. I just can't figure out how weathermen can be so wrong regularly. It's mind-blowing in many ways. Well, that's neither here nor there, just frustrating to deal with and try to prepare for the day.

The morning was perfect conditions to be a sitter. There was minimal wind, and it was 24 degrees. I had a good feeling. I was set up and ready to go about a half hour before daylight. I knew this would give me time to let everything around me settle back into place before things came to life.

With my eyes closed and waiting for daylight, I extended my thoughts a little too long and had a strange feeling. When I opened my eyes, I could see a deer standing next to a big tree. Then, I noticed a smaller one behind it.

They stood there for a few minutes before moving on. They seemed a little spooky and jerky jerky. Eventually, they went down the hill and turned back in the direction from which they came. I'm not sure where they went after they got out of sight.

The nice morning lasted until about noon. The wind quickly picked up and there were 30-plus mph gusts.  I didn't let it bother me because my confidence was through the roof. I just felt like I would see a big buck trying to slip past me. I was in a perfect location for it.

By the time I packed up to head back to my truck, I had seen seven deer but no bucks. I'm having a hard time catching up to one, but I'm not about to quit. I'll give it everything I have until the light fades on the season. I'm enjoying my time out there and hoping something good comes of it. If not, nobody can take the time away that I've been able to spend with myself and my dad. It's been a wild ride. It's definitely not my best season, but I easily could've killed a couple of nice bucks, and I have to remember that when I tell people it's been a horrible season. I guess I have to put it in perspective, and that can be difficult at times when you have a certain standard you're trying to achieve. I've always know your worst season can become your best in a matter of a split second too. Let's hope that split second arrives in the next few days. We are supposed to have 40-plus mph winds tomorrow. I'd assume deer won't be moving much, so that means I'll be on the move all day trying to find one.
